Young Mistakes We Didn’t Make

Freckled friend with your
small smile but
wide whispers
and my little lies
because your mouth is massive.

I can see
your heart, honey brown
in those eyes I can’t stop
looking, lovely like lips
that used to keep kisses.

Brown brows that arch
like an arrogant arrow about
to fly, forever forgiving
my long light hair
as it blows in the breeze.
